How to use PDF Workshop

Every tool on this site works the same way: pick it, drop a file, choose the options, press the button, and the result downloads. This page explains that flow once, lists the limits, and then goes through all 14 tools one by one.

  1. The workspace in three moves
  2. Files, sizes and limits
  3. What happens to your file
  4. Tool by tool
  5. When something goes wrong

1. The workspace in three moves

  1. Choose the tool

The list on the left of the workspace (or the grid on the home page) has every tool. The card in the middle changes to match it and tells you which files it takes.

  2. Add your file

Drag the file onto the dotted area, or click the area to browse. Tools that combine files (Merge, Images to PDF) accept several at once; drag them in the order you want.

  3. Set options, press the button

Each tool shows only its own options: a quality level, a page range, a password, a watermark text. Press the green button and wait; the download starts by itself and the message under the button confirms it.

The Compress PDF tool card with its quality options and the Compress button
Each tool shows only the options it needs. Here: the three quality profiles of Compress PDF.

Nothing is saved between visits and there is no account. If you want to run another job, drop the next file; if you want a different tool, pick it from the list.

2. Files, sizes and limits

LimitValue
File sizeUp to 200 MB per file, and 200 MB for all files in one job together
Files per jobUp to 50 (only the tools that combine files take more than one)
Jobs12 jobs in 10 minutes from one connection; after that you are asked to wait
Corel-ready PDFUp to 100 pages are rewritten in one run
PasswordsProtect uses AES-256; Remove password needs the current password of the document
Accepted inputPDF for the PDF tools; JPG, PNG and similar images for Images to PDF and Image to vector; CDR/CMX for the CorelDRAW converter
Compress cannot always shrink. A PDF that is already efficient, or one that is mostly text, may not get smaller. When that happens the original is returned unchanged with a note under the button instead of a bigger "compressed" file.

3. What happens to your file

Your file is processed on the server over HTTPS inside an isolated temporary folder, and that folder is deleted as soon as the download has been sent. Nothing is kept.

Uploads travel over HTTPS. The processing happens on this server, not inside your browser, so it works on any device with a browser, including phones. There is no account, no history and no way to retrieve a file after the download has been sent. The privacy and cookies page covers the details, including advertising cookies.

4. Tool by tool

Each tool also has its own page with the same instructions next to the workspace. Jump to a tool:

  1. Make a PDF Corel-ready
  2. Convert a CorelDRAW file
  3. Merge PDF files online
  4. Split a PDF or extract pages

Make a PDF Corel-ready

Rewrite up to 100 pages as PDF 1.4, outline fonts, and optionally export SVG and PNG files for every page.

What to drop: Drop a PDF for Corel conversion
  1. Drop the PDF you want to open in CorelDRAW. It can be up to 100 pages and 200 MB.
  2. Leave the SVG and PNG options ticked unless you only want the rewritten PDF.
  3. Click Create Corel-ready package and download the ZIP.
  4. Import the PDF or the per-page SVG files into CorelDRAW. Text is already outlined, so nothing asks for a font.
Why does my PDF look wrong in CorelDRAW?

Usually because a font is not installed on your machine or the PDF uses features Corel's importer does not support. Outlining the text and writing the file as PDF 1.4 removes both problems in most cases.

Is the text still editable after outlining?

No. Outlined text becomes shapes, which is exactly what makes it render identically everywhere. Keep your original file if you need to edit the words later.

Does this work for print shops and sign makers?

Yes. Outlined, version 1.4 PDFs are what most cutting and print workflows ask for, and the per-page SVG files suit vinyl cutters and laser software.

Convert a CorelDRAW file

Open any CorelDRAW .cdr (3 to 2026) or legacy .cmx and get an outlined PDF 1.4, SVG, EPS and PNG that every CorelDRAW version imports.

What to drop: Drop a CorelDRAW file
  1. Drop the .cdr, .cdt or legacy .cmx file. Files up to 200 MB.
  2. Choose the outputs you want. The outlined PDF is the safest way into an older CorelDRAW; SVG keeps the drawing editable.
  3. Click Convert and download the ZIP. Import the PDF or SVG in CorelDRAW with File, Import.
Can it convert a CorelDRAW 2024 file to X7 or X4 format?

Not as a .cdr. Only CorelDRAW can write .cdr files. It converts the drawing to PDF, SVG and EPS, which CorelDRAW X4, X7 and every later version import, and that is how most people open a newer file in an older program.

Will text and fonts survive?

Text is converted to outlines in the PDF and EPS, and in the SVG when the option is ticked, so the drawing looks identical on a machine without the fonts. Untick the SVG option if you want text to stay editable and have the fonts installed.

What about CMX files?

Legacy CMX (from CorelDRAW X7 and earlier) is read here. The newer CMX3 format from CorelDRAW 2017 onward is not; the CMX tools on cutready.zooshan.com read that one, or save as .cdr or PDF from CorelDRAW.

Does it handle multi-page documents?

The first page is converted. Export other pages to PDF from CorelDRAW if you need them, then use the Corel-ready tool on that PDF.

Organize

Merge PDF files online

Combine PDFs in the order shown below into one clean document.

What to drop: Drop two or more PDFs
  1. Add your PDFs in the order you want them to appear. You can remove one and add it again to change its position.
  2. Check the list, then click Merge PDFs.
  3. Download the single combined PDF.
How many files can I merge?

As many as fit in 200 MB per job. Each input can itself be up to 200 MB.

Is quality reduced when merging?

No. Merging copies the existing pages into one file. If you want a smaller file afterwards, run the result through the compress tool.

Are my documents stored?

Your file is processed on the server over HTTPS inside an isolated temporary folder, and that folder is deleted as soon as the download has been sent. Nothing is kept.

Organize

Split a PDF or extract pages

Download selected pages separately as a ZIP, or combine them into a new PDF.

What to drop: Drop one PDF
  1. Drop one PDF of up to 200 pages.
  2. Enter the pages to keep, or leave all to split every page.
  3. Choose separate PDFs in a ZIP or one combined PDF, then click the button.
Can I extract one page from a PDF?

Yes. Enter that page number and choose one combined PDF to get a single-page document.

How do I write a page range?

Separate items with commas and use a dash for ranges: 2,4-6,9 keeps page 2, pages 4 to 6 and page 9.

Are the extracted pages the same quality as the original?

Yes. Pages are copied, not rendered, so text and vector graphics are untouched.

Open Split or extract pages →

Optimize

Compress a PDF

Reduce file size using a quality profile suited to screen, balanced, or print output.

What to drop: Drop one PDF to compress
  1. Drop the PDF you want to shrink.
  2. Pick a quality profile. Balanced is right for most forms and applications.
  3. Click Compress PDF and download the smaller file.
How much smaller will my PDF get?

It depends on what is inside. Scans and photos often shrink by more than half; text-only files may barely change because there is little to compress.

Will the text still be selectable?

Yes. Compression re-encodes images and streams inside the file; it does not turn pages into pictures.

Which profile should I choose for a form upload?

Balanced. If the portal still rejects the size, try screen, which is the smallest.

Open Compress PDF →

Create

Convert images to a PDF

Turn JPG, PNG, WebP, TIFF, or BMP images into a single PDF in the order shown.

What to drop: Drop images in page order
  1. Drop your images in the order they should appear. JPG, PNG, WebP, TIFF and BMP all work.
  2. Choose a page size. A4 suits most applications and forms.
  3. Click the button and download the PDF.
Can I convert several photos into one PDF?

Yes. Add them all and they become pages of a single PDF in that order.

What size should I choose for a document upload?

A4 unless the form says otherwise. It places each image on a standard page with a small margin.

Does it reduce image quality?

Images are placed into the PDF as they are. If the result is too large, run it through the compress tool.

Open Images to PDF →

Convert

Convert an image to vector

Trace JPG or PNG artwork into editable vector paths. Flat graphics and logos produce the cleanest results.

What to drop: Drop one JPG or PNG to trace
  1. Drop a JPG or PNG. Higher-contrast, sharper images give cleaner paths.
  2. Choose colour or black and white, and a detail level. Balanced is a good start.
  3. Pick SVG, EPS or PDF and click the button.
Which images vectorise well?

Logos, icons, calligraphy, line drawings and flat graphics. Photos and images with gradients produce large, messy results.

Can I edit the result?

Yes. The output is ordinary vector paths that open in Inkscape, Illustrator, CorelDRAW and Affinity Designer.

Why is there a white background shape in my SVG?

The tracer treats the background as a colour area. Delete that outer shape in your editor if you want transparency.

Open Image to vector →

Convert

Convert PDF pages to images

Render every PDF page as PNG or JPEG and download the pages together.

What to drop: Drop one PDF to render
  1. Drop one PDF.
  2. Choose PNG or JPEG, and a resolution. 150 DPI reads well on screen; 200 is better for zooming or printing.
  3. Click Render pages and download the ZIP.
Which resolution should I choose?

72 DPI for small previews, 150 for normal viewing, 200 when the page will be printed or enlarged.

Can I convert only some pages?

Extract the pages you need with the split tool first, then render that smaller PDF.

Is a watermark added?

No. The images are plain renders of your pages.

Open PDF to images →

Organize

Rotate PDF pages

Rotate all pages or a selected range without rasterizing your document.

What to drop: Drop one PDF
  1. Drop one PDF.
  2. Enter the pages to rotate, or leave all.
  3. Choose 90 degrees clockwise, 180, or 90 counter-clockwise, and click Rotate PDF.
Is rotating lossless?

Yes. Only the page's rotation attribute changes; the content is not converted or recompressed.

Can I rotate a single page?

Yes. Enter its number in the Pages field and leave the rest of the document alone.

Why does my viewer still show it sideways?

Some viewers remember a per-session view rotation. Close and reopen the file, or check it in a different viewer.

Open Rotate pages →

Security

Password protect a PDF

Encrypt a PDF with AES-256 and require a password to open it.

What to drop: Drop one PDF
  1. Drop one PDF.
  2. Type a password of 10 to 128 characters. Write it down somewhere safe; it cannot be recovered.
  3. Click Protect PDF and download the encrypted copy.
Is the password stored anywhere?

No. It is used once to encrypt the file and then discarded with the temporary job folder.

What if I forget the password?

There is no recovery. Keep an unencrypted copy of the original for yourself.

Will the protected PDF open on a phone?

Yes. AES-256 is supported by every mainstream PDF reader, including the built-in ones on iOS and Android.

Open Protect with password →

Security

Remove a password from a PDF

Create an unlocked copy when you know the document's current password.

What to drop: Drop a protected PDF
  1. Drop the protected PDF.
  2. Enter its current password.
  3. Click Unlock PDF and download the copy without a password.
Can it remove a password I do not know?

No. It needs the correct password. A wrong one returns an error and no file.

Does it remove printing or copying restrictions?

The unlocked copy is a plain, unencrypted PDF, so viewer restrictions that relied on the encryption no longer apply.

Is the password kept?

No. It is used to open the file during the job and then discarded.

Open Remove password →

Edit

Add a watermark to a PDF

Place a diagonal text watermark across every page.

What to drop: Drop one PDF
  1. Drop one PDF.
  2. Type the watermark text. CONFIDENTIAL is filled in as a starting point.
  3. Choose subtle, balanced or strong, and click Add watermark.
Can the watermark be removed later?

It is an ordinary page element, so someone with editing software could remove it. Use it as a label, not as protection; combine it with a password if you need control.

Can I watermark only some pages?

Not directly. Split the document, watermark the part you need, then merge it back.

Does it work on scanned PDFs?

Yes. The text is drawn over each page regardless of what the page contains.

Open Add watermark →

Edit

Add page numbers to a PDF

Add centered page numbers along the bottom edge of each page.

What to drop: Drop one PDF
  1. Drop one PDF.
  2. Set the starting number. Leave it at 1 for a normal document.
  3. Click Number pages and download the result.
Can I start numbering from a page other than the first?

Numbering covers every page. To number only a section, split the file, number that part with the right starting value, then merge.

Will numbers overlap my existing footer?

They sit close to the bottom edge. If your pages already carry footers near the edge, check one page after numbering.

Does this change the page content?

It adds a small text element to each page and leaves everything else as it was.

Open Add page numbers →

Remove metadata from a PDF

Create a copy without document title, author, subject, keyword, and producer metadata.

What to drop: Drop one PDF
  1. Drop one PDF.
  2. Click the button and download the cleaned copy.
  3. Check the document properties in your reader if you want to confirm the fields are empty.
Which fields are removed?

Title, author, subject, keywords, creator and producer, which are the standard document information fields.

Does it redact text on the pages?

No. It only clears the information fields. Use a redaction tool for content that appears on the page itself.

Is it safe to send the cleaned file?

The hidden fields are gone. Still review the pages themselves for anything you would not want shared.

5. When something goes wrong

Message or problemWhat to do
"Too many jobs"You have run 12 jobs in 10 minutes. Wait a few minutes and try again; failed attempts do not count.
"The file could not be processed"Check that the file opens on your own computer. A PDF with an open password must go through Remove password first. Images must be real JPG or PNG files, not renamed documents.
Upload is refusedThe file is over 200 MB, or the job has too many files. Split the work into smaller jobs.
Compressed file is not smallerSee the note in section 2: the original is returned when compression would only make it larger. Try the "screen" profile for the smallest result if quality matters less.
CorelDRAW file gives a version warningFiles saved by CorelDRAW X8 and later may not convert completely. Save a copy as an older version (X7 or earlier) in CorelDRAW, or export a PDF from CorelDRAW and use Corel-ready PDF.
Only the first page of a CDR convertsThat is a known limit of the converter. Export the other pages separately from CorelDRAW.
Nothing downloadsCheck the browser's download bar or pop-up blocker; the file is sent as a normal download. On a phone, look in the Downloads folder.

Still stuck? The workspace shows the exact message from the server under the button; it usually names the cause.
