About this tool

Make a PDF small enough to email or to fit an upload limit. Choose a profile: screen gives the smallest file for reading on a display, balanced keeps images clear at a sensible size, and print keeps enough resolution for paper. Scanned and image-heavy documents shrink the most; a PDF that is mostly text may already be close to its minimum size.

How to use it

  1. Drop the PDF you want to shrink.
  2. Pick a quality profile. Balanced is right for most forms and applications.
  3. Click Compress PDF and download the smaller file.

Questions

How much smaller will my PDF get?

It depends on what is inside. Scans and photos often shrink by more than half; text-only files may barely change because there is little to compress.

Will the text still be selectable?

Yes. Compression re-encodes images and streams inside the file; it does not turn pages into pictures.

Which profile should I choose for a form upload?

Balanced. If the portal still rejects the size, try screen, which is the smallest.
