Remove password

Create an unlocked copy when you know the document's current password.

Ephemeral by designEach job gets an isolated temporary folder that is removed after its response completes.
Safer processingFile signatures, page counts, dimensions, output sizes, and processing time are constrained.
Honest privacyFiles are processed on this server over HTTPS—not inside your browser.

About this tool

Stop typing the same password every time you open a file you own. Enter the current password once and download a copy that opens freely. This tool decrypts with the password you provide; it does not, and cannot, break into a PDF whose password you do not know.

How to use it

  1. Drop the protected PDF.
  2. Enter its current password.
  3. Click Unlock PDF and download the copy without a password.

Questions

Can it remove a password I do not know?

No. It needs the correct password. A wrong one returns an error and no file.

Does it remove printing or copying restrictions?

The unlocked copy is a plain, unencrypted PDF, so viewer restrictions that relied on the encryption no longer apply.

Is the password kept?

No. It is used to open the file during the job and then discarded.
