About this tool

CorelDRAW often struggles with PDFs made by modern design and office software: fonts come in substituted, transparency flattens oddly, and newer PDF features are ignored. This tool rewrites the file the way Corel prefers it: PDF version 1.4, with every piece of text converted to outlined paths so no font is needed on the machine that opens it.

You also get a ZIP with an SVG of each page, which imports into CorelDRAW, Illustrator and Inkscape as editable vector art, plus a PNG preview of each page so you can check the result before importing.

How to use it

  1. Drop the PDF you want to open in CorelDRAW. It can be up to 100 pages and 200 MB.
  2. Leave the SVG and PNG options ticked unless you only want the rewritten PDF.
  3. Click Create Corel-ready package and download the ZIP.
  4. Import the PDF or the per-page SVG files into CorelDRAW. Text is already outlined, so nothing asks for a font.

Questions

Why does my PDF look wrong in CorelDRAW?

Usually because a font is not installed on your machine or the PDF uses features Corel's importer does not support. Outlining the text and writing the file as PDF 1.4 removes both problems in most cases.

Is the text still editable after outlining?

No. Outlined text becomes shapes, which is exactly what makes it render identically everywhere. Keep your original file if you need to edit the words later.

Does this work for print shops and sign makers?

Yes. Outlined, version 1.4 PDFs are what most cutting and print workflows ask for, and the per-page SVG files suit vinyl cutters and laser software.
